Q.1 Does eukula  Oil have an expiry date?
A. Unopened, and stored in a cool, dry condition, Eukula Hardwax Oil has a shelf-life of approximately 2 years.

Q.2 Do I have to use the whole tin, or can I simply put the lid back on and use it later?
A. Only use what is necessary to oil your floors. To avoid contamination, instead of dipping your application tool into the can, we recommend you pour the oil needed into a separate container. When you have finished oiling your floors we recommend you transfer any leftover oil to a smaller can or jar. If, at a later date, you find that the oil has formed a skin, remove this carefully and discard it, and stir the remaining oil thoroughly. If you notice a significant discoloration, discard the material safely.

Q.3 After the floor has been oiled, I understand I should only walk on it wearing socks for up to 12 hours, but can I lay down paper and walk on that in normal footwear?
A. No, it is imperative that nothing is put on the floor during this time.

Q.4 Can I use eukula for other projects besides the floor?
A. Yes. Eukula Hardwax Oil is an excellent finish for practically all interior wood applications. It provides excellent protection for unfinished wood paneling, trim, windows, stairs, railings and furniture.

Q.5 How long does it take eukula Hardwax Oil to dry?
A. You must allow 12 hours drying time in between coats. However, this is only approximate, and depends on the room and floor temperatures as well as the air humidity. The complete curing process takes 7 days.

Q.6 Can I put a heater in the room to help the oil try more quickly?
A. No, we recommend you allow your floor to dry as naturally as possible. Allow as much fresh air as possible (but not draughts) and as long as it is not too damp outside, then open the windows.

Q.7 Can Eukula Oil be applied over existing water-based paints, stains and sealers?
A. No, it is not compatible with alternative brands.

Q.8 I have applied eukula Hardwax Oil as directed, but am experiencing uneven patches of color and sheen. What should I do?
A. After the first coat it is common to see uneven color and sheen. This is because any species of wood is unevenly absorbent. If there are uneven patches following the second coat this indicates that the oil has been over-applied. The solution would be to sand-off the excess oil once dry.

Q.9 What safety precautions should I take?
A. We recommend that the room is well-ventilated, and that gloves and a filter mask are worn. Proper disposal must also be undertaken.
*WARNING: Spontaneous Combustion Danger! Oil and/or refresher-soaked materials such as rags, steel wool, sanding dust, etc,. may spontaneously combust. Immerse oil-soaked materials in water and store in an airtight metal container. Dispose accordingly.

Q.10 What do I have to do to the floor before I apply Eukula Hardwax Oil?
A. Proper preparation is one of the most important factors for a beautifully finished floor. Sand the floor evenly, making sure there are no marks or gouges left in the surface. Use a vacuum cleaner or sweep the floor thoroughly to remove any sawdust or sandpaper grit and dirt.

Q.11 How much floor can I cover with the Oil?
A. 1 litre will cover approximately 300 sq. ft flooring (or 150 sq.ft for two
coats.

Q.12 By mistake, I put Refresher on my railing instead of Oil. Can I put Oil on top of the Refresher - should I put on another coat of Refresher - or do I have to sand it down and start again with Oil?
A. You can either apply a coat of oil if available, or a second coat of refresher. You don’t have to sand it down.

Q.13 What should I do if I find dust or debris in my first coat of eukula Hardwax Oil?
A. You may have over-applied the oil. In this case, you will need to sand-off the existing layer and re-apply. Make sure that you remove any surplus.

Q.14 Iseukula Hardwax Oil applied just like other finishes?
A. Eukula oil cannot be painted on or applied and left to soak into the wood like other oils. Eukula must be rubbed well into the wood. This will ensure it penetrates into the pores of the wood. Application instructions are on the tin, as well as the Wide Plank Hardwood website.

Q.15 Is eukula Hardwax Oil harmful to my home environment?
A. Absolutely not. Once fully cured, Eukula Hardwax Oil will not emit any harmful odors or chemicals if correctly applied, and is non-soluble in water.
